Regulation

Article 1

The creation of the Botanical Garden of the University of Crete at the French facility in Rethymnon, was approved by a decision of the Senate of the University of Crete (231st / 29-6-2006). It is part of the research and educational activity of the Foundation and includes in its goals the connection of the University of Crete with its social environment, the regional development, and the continuous education and training. It operates on the basis of this Regulation, approved by the Senate of the University of Crete, and its official name in Greek and English is: Botanical Garden of the University of Crete (BGP), Botanical Garden of the University of Crete (BGUOC).

  Article 2

The goal of the Botanical Garden of the University of Crete is:

a. The configuration and operation, on the University Campus of France, of the visitable areas of the Botanical Garden that will scientifically highlight the Mediterranean flora and vegetation and will equally document the complex timeless structures and interactions between the natural world and the natural world. and herbs in Crete, and in other island regions of the Aegean and the Mediterranean.

b. The interdisciplinary and multilevel research of the natural and cultural environment of the regions of Crete, the Aegean islands and the Mediterranean regarding the plants and the vegetation of the Mediterranean landscape.

c. The support of the undergraduate and postgraduate education at the University of Crete, as well as the continuous education and training of the out-of-university environment of the Foundation.

e. The connection of the Foundation with the local communities.

f. Regional development and the implementation of environmental policies in the wider region.

  Article 3

To achieve its goals, the Botanical Garden can implement the following actions:

a. Development of collaborations with other Botanical Gardens of Greece and abroad, as well as with research laboratories of the University of Crete, with higher education Institutions, with Research Institutes, with the Primary and Secondary education, and in general with institutionalized bodies that are active in natural / and anthropogenic environment in Greece and abroad, such as environmental education centers, management bodies of protected areas, etc.

b. Preparation and submission of relevant research proposals to regional, national and international funding bodies.

c. Compilation and publication of scientific research papers and studies.

d. Production of printed and electronic research and / or educational material.

e. Organization of scientific meetings for the promotion of research and the publication of its results, as well as other events.

f. Collection, storage, reproduction of botanical material and management of cultural material.

g. Arrangement of places to visit.

  Article 4

The staff of the Botanical Garden (research, administrative, technical and security staff) is hired and / or made available by the University of Crete or seconded to the Botanical Garden by other services of the Public or the wider Public Sector. The duties of the staff are determined by a decision of the Steering Committee of the Botanical Garden. The operation of the Botanical Garden is assisted by undergraduate, postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers as well as by volunteers.

  Article 5

The resources of the Botanical Garden come i) from the Regular Credits and Public Investments available to it from the University of Crete, as well as from other grants of the Public or the wider Public Sector and the European Union ii) from legacies, bequests, donations and other financial support coming from domestic or foreign natural and legal persons to the University of Crete iii) from research program funds and v) from any other activity related to its purposes.

  Article 6

For the needs of the Botanical Garden the following books and data are kept: Book of protocol, Book of financial data, Book of assets.

For the needs of the Botanical Garden, the operation of the Secretariat and Logistics Office of the Botanical Garden is foreseen. This offers full secretarial support. Keeps the protocol books, financial and assets, as well as correspondence protocol, address file, telephone numbers and supervises the process of issuing announcements, forms and catalogs. Administratively supports the research and development programs of the Botanical Garden. Compiles minutes of meetings. Organizes and coordinates the internal and public relations as well as the events of the Botanical Garden. Takes care of the supply of consumables, processes the invoices and promotes the invoices for payment. Monitors the movement of revenue and expenditure accounts of the total and individual budgets of the Botanical Garden. Monitors and supports their pre-accounting
